OUR CORE VALUES
-
WORSHIP IS A PRIORITY: We live to worship God joyfully and gratefully for Who He is and for all that He has done. (John 4:23-24)
-
GOD’S WORD is the final authority for life: We seek to grow through the consistent application of scripture to our lives, our attitudes and our relationships. (1 Peter 2:2)
-
SPIRIT-FILLED WITNESS to our world: We seek to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through personal witness, evangelistic endeavors as a church and through church-planting both at home and abroad. (Matthew 28:18-20)
-
FELLOWSHIP: As an interdependent people, we understand the value of meeting together as a corporate body and in smaller groups to bear one another’s burdens. (Hebrew 10:24-25)
-
GIVING AND STEWARDSHIP: We recognize that all our material possessions are a gift from God given to further His work and glory in the world. We value giving money to further the ministries of the church through our tithes and offerings. (2 Corinthians 8:7)
-
COMMITMENT TO SERVICE: The Holy Spirit gives each of us abilities to serve one another, the church at large and the community in which we live. Discovering and developing those gifts to serve others is our constant aim. (Galatians 5:13-14)
OUR JOURNEY
Pastor Jeff O'Brien and his family arrived in Pittsburgh in August, 2011 and began the exciting and daunting task of pioneering a new church here. For the previous 24 years, He was Senior Pastor of The Potter's House Christian Fellowship of Hanover, PA, where he built a dynamic church, with an amazing core of believers that are pursuing their destiny in the Kingdom of God under new leadership.
Pastor O'Brien has turned the church over to Trevor Coyne, a homegrown disciple in May of 2023, and is now pioneering a new church in Washington PA. The Door, along with the new leadership of Pastor Coyne presents great and exciting possibilities. From 2011 to now the church has taken off, going from living room, to shared rented space, to the first church building to the now second church location in Brentwood. It is experiencing tremendous growth with the new pastor in these foundational stages. God is enabling us to secure the calling and destiny He has! We invite you to join us as we worship God together and seek His will for our lives as we stretch forward to reach the world with the hope and truth of God's salvation and forgiveness.
OUR ROOTS
The Door of Pittsburgh, PA is a Christian Fellowship Ministries' Church (CFM). CFM, Inc. was founded in 1970 by Pastor Wayman Mitchell. A spiritual fire was launched that is spanning the globe. Now, over 3620 churches have been planted in over 130 nations of the world with the number growing daily. From that, crusades and conferences sprung up that are touching tens of thousands every year. This church is a product of that vision and is working to see it expanded in the short time that remains before Jesus' return. God has given us a vision for the day we live in. Our message is simple, yet it is the cornerstone of all truth. Jesus Christ is the only hope for man's salvation and that is true with every person in every nation on the globe. In a world full of empty dreams and false promises is a truth which grows stronger every year, and that is Jesus Christ and Him crucified!
LOCAL LEADERSHIP
In our local church, God has given us a powerful revival of men and we are obeying the command by Jesus in Matthew 28:19 to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." As we have grown as a church, men have grown into leadership roles.
